He was born on September 2, 1943 in Brooklyn, New York to the late Dorothy Elizabeth (née Mulligan Malone) and Wyatt Luther Wilson.
In 1988, Robert relocated to Florida following a job transfer with Embassy Dairy. He later retired from the Pinellas County School System, where he worked as a bus driver.
Robert derived satisfaction from the hands-on craft of repairing lawn mowers and demonstrated his entrepreneurial spirit by establishing and owning his own business.
He had a wonderful sense of humor and a deep passion for music that brought joy to those around him. It’s touching that he passed on his love for music, creating a lasting legacy for his children.
In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his loving wife of 44 years, Elizabeth Wilson; siblings, Wyatt Wilson, John Wilson, and Marie Herndon.
Robert is survived by his children, Robert Howard (Tammy) Wilson Jr., Dallis Wayne (Tammy) Wilson, Anita Fae (Wayne) Shelton; step-son, Sidney Patterson; grandchildren, Aimee (Frankie) Walton, Alvin (Katlyn) Shelton, Shaun (Stephanie) Wilson, Andrew Shelton, Kayla (Bobby) Garber, Valerie (Josh) Huffman, Cheyenne Wilson, Alicia (Kyle) Baker, Ethan Shelton; great-grandchildren, McKenzie Walton, Maddison Walton, Nate Walton, Ellia Walton, Judah Wilson, Adalynn Grace Baker, Champ Alden Baker, Vada Marie Baker, John Lucas Garber, Savanna Faye Garber, John Matthew Garber, Josiah Adam Huffman, Moriah Grace Huffman, Isaac Ryan Carter, Jaelynn Renae Carter, Ava Michelle Shelton; dear friend and caregiver of six years, Gerianne (Phil) Denison; many extended family members and friends.
A visitation for Robert will be held on Thursday, January 18, 2024 from 12:00 PM until the graveside service 1:00 PM at Sylvan Abbey Memorial Park and Funeral Home, 2853 Sunset Point Road, Clearwater, Florida 33759.
