HOWARD, Robert D. 90, of Oldsmar, FL passed away peacefully at Mease Hospital Dunedin on January 15, 2017. Robert was born in Fall River, MA and was a longtime resident of East Lake Woodlands in Oldsmar. He was a WWII veteran who served with the US Army Air Corps in Japan for 2 years at the end of the war, as part of the army of occupation. He worked nearly 40 years as a mechanical engineer for Westinghouse Electric and briefly for General Dynamics. Robert loved his work, and especially enjoyed working in customer service. He also loved travelling, particularly cruising, and took over 65 cruises around much of the world. He especially enjoyed recent trips to Egypt, the D-Day beaches at Normandy, and a 90th birthday celebration at Clearwater Beach. Robert was preceded in death by his beloved wife Barbara, daughter Patricia, and sister Marge. He will be sorely missed by daughter Sheryl, nieces Peggy Gage and Judi McFarland, son-in-law James Yates, and the rest of his family and friends. Sylvan Abbey Funeral Home, Clearwater.
