Robert Emile Bouley was born January 20, 1924 in Nashua, New Hampshire. He joined the United States Marine Corps on March 3, 1942 during the height of World War II, and bravely served his country until he was honorably discharged March 2, 1946. While in the Marine Corps, Robert successfully achieved the rank of Marine Corporal, and earned the Rifle Marksman Badge, as well as qualifying, and being awarded the highest Naval marksmanship award, the Pistol Expert Badge, which is only awarded to those military personnel who score higher than a military sharpshooter score. Corporal Bouley was then assigned and served on the USS Texas Battleship from May 5, 1942 until November 4, 1944 as a Radar Operator and Heavy AA Gun Crewman. During Roberts's term of assignment, the USS Texas Battleship was involved in the invasions of North Africa, November 1942, the Battle of Normandy, June 1944, and the invasion of Southern France, August 1944. For his brave service in these battles, Robert received the European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with three bronze stars. Corporal Bouley was also awarded the Combat Action Ribbon for his active participation in surface combat, as well as the American Campaign Medal for his commitment to service in the American Theater outside of the United States during World War II. Corporal Robert Bouley honorably served the remainder of his military enlistment in the Asiatic Pacific area, for which he was awarded the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal, the Certificate of Satisfactory Service award, the Good Conduct Medal, and the World War II Victory Medal, before being honorably discharged from the United States Marine Corps after four years of meritorious service to our country.
Robert is survived by his wife Diana Kee, daughter Madeline Bouley Wertz, grandson Eric Gibbs, Granddaughter Andrea Merritt, nieces Linda (Timothy) Turner, Annette (John) Kezek, nephew William (Patricia) Bouley, many grandnieces and grandnephews. Predeceased by brother Leo (Theresa) Bouley, niece Rita (Harold) Everson, nephew Joseph (Margaret) Bouley.
