Muth, T. Richard, 92, of Seminole died on July 19, 2011. He was born in Newark, NJ; raised in Irvington, NJ; moved to Seminole in 1990 after living in West Orange, NJ for 43 years. During World War II, he served as a commissioned officer in the U. S. Army Transportation Corps. He retired from Wm. Stroh, Inc. of West New York, NJ after 35 years as General Manager of that firm. Muth was active in the Y. M. C. A. and served as the first elected national President of what was known as the Phalanx Fraternity, a Y M C A program for young men. A graduate of the Christian Leadership Training program of the American Youth Foundation, St. Louis, MO, of which he served on the Board of Directors for 25 years. Later he became active in the Masonic Fraternity in which he served as Worshipful Master in 1961 of Corinthian Lodge # 57; later as a District Deputy Grand Master of the Masonic Grand Lodge of New Jersey. He also was a 32nd degree Mason and a Shriner as well as a Past Patron of the Order of the Eastern Star of NJ and was a past president of the Eastern Star Charity Foundation of New Jersey. Ordained an Elder in the St. Cloud Presbyterian Church of West Orange, NJ, he was elected Moderator of the Presbytery of Newark in 1968 (a very special honor for a layman in those days). Currently a member of Christ Presbyterian Church in Largo, he served there also as an Elder. Married for 62½ years, his wife, Marjorie, died in 2007. Surviving him are his daughter, Rev. Dr. Nancy E. Muth, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church in Germantown, Philadelphia, PA; and his son, Richard F. Muth of Aliquippa, PA. Funeral arrangements by National Cremation Society. A service will be held at Lake Seminole Square, 8333 Seminole Blvd, Saturday, July 23 at 10:30 a.m.
