Richard A. Munro of Dunedin, Florida passed away September 14, 2017. Richard was born July 10, 1927 in Watertown, Massachusetts to Alexander and Marie Colombe Munro. Richard grew up in Watertown, MA. and joined the United States Marine Corp at the age of 17. He served our country from 1945 to 1949; when he was honorably discharged. Besides his family, and his love for Josephine, Richard had a passion for small aircraft and enjoyed flying them. His passion for flying led him to a career in the airlines industry. In 1954 he received his certification in Aircraft and Powerplant, giving him the qualification of aircraft mechanic. Richard worked for National Airlines in Boston, Massachusetts. In 1979 he was transferred to Tampa International Airport, at this time the family moved to Dunedin, Florida. Richard's hobby included flying his Cessna Sky-Hawk aircraft. His first airplane love was his Taylor Craft "Cub". He enjoyed building and flying remote controlled airplanes and loved instructing others on how to fly them. Richard was a member of the local Radio Controlled Aero Modelers Club. He also supported giving blood and was in the Five Gallon Donors Club. Besides is parents, he is predeceased by his wife Josephine E. Munro. Richard is survived by his daughter, Maria (Jason) Rudisill of Tarpon Springs, Florida; four sons, Mark (Maurine) Munro of Safety, Florida; Martin (Jacqueline) Munro of Dunedin, Florida; Michael Munro of Clearwater, Florida; Matthew Munro of Orlando, Florida; three grandsons, James Rood of North Miami Beach, Florida; Daniel (Emily) Rood of Seven Devils, North Carolina, Austin Munro of Clearwater, Florida; two great granddaughters, Hannah Jo and Caroline Bray Rood. Visitation will be held at Sylvan Abbey Methodist Church in Clearwater, Florida, September 18th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. His funeral mass will be held on September 19, 2017 at 11:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Dunedin, Florida. Burial to follow at Sylvan Abbey Memorial Park in Clearwater, Florida.
