Patricia H. Tong 86, of Clearwater, passed away December 17, 2014. Pat was born in Quincy, MA and grew up in New England, where she developed her life-long love for lobster. She moved with her children and late husband, Albert Tong, to Clearwater in 1971. They owned the Country Dinner Playhouse in Gateway Mall in St Petersburg for many years. Pat loved the theater and produced over 25 professional stage productions. She held auditions in New York City and Los Angeles to bring the best talent to her shows. Retiring in 1985, she spent her later years in her greatest role of all, the doting grandmother. “Nana” was the go-to babysitter, with the kids hopeful they would get to spend the night.
Pat is survived by her children, Thomas Noonan (Peggy); David Tong (Lori); Jeff Tong (Marla); Elizabeth Covington (Courtney), and step-daughter Marty Robles (Ed); and a brother, Wilfred Holt (Doris); twelve grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Patricia Skinner. Funeral mass will be held Monday, January 5, 2015 at 10:00 at St Catherine’s Catholic Church in Clearwater.
