Michael was born on September 15th 1952 to Salvatore and Mary Como in Rockville Centre, New York. He moved to Florida in 1978. He started a successful business as the owner of Gem Window Fashions of Tampa Bay and was known to his customers as “The Blind Guy”.
In 1990, Michael met Helen, the woman who was to become his wife. They married in 1992 and shared an extraordinary marriage filled with so much love and laughter. For those 30 years, he lovingly and consistently referred to Helen as “my beautiful bride”.
Michael was a stranger to no one. He was known for his amazing sense of humor, big heart, giving nature, and impeccable integrity. He had a love for all animals, a passion for music and hot rods, and enjoyed working with his hands building, woodworking, and creating laser artwork. His antics with his grandchildren are legendary; they had great fun playing silly games such as Foot-phone, Gator-Shark, and sharing nights at the “Bouncy-Bridge Park” where he appeared as Grampzilla. Many of his birthdays were celebrated with the family and grandchildren at Chuck-E-Cheeses. These special times will be forever remembered.
Michael was predeceased by his father Salvatore, mother Mary, and brothers Salvatore and Robert. He is survived by his wife Helen, stepdaughter Jennifer, grandchildren Max, Ella and Simon, brother Jerry, and sisters-in-law Marie, Peggy, and Hanne. Other special family members include Paul, Brian, Sal Jr, Chrissie, Louie, Jodi and Brittany.
