Mary Louise Rosenfield July 19, 1928 - August 2, 2014 Mary Louise was born on July 19, 1928 in Washington, D.C. to Anna Byers and John McHugh. She was the youngest of five siblings: Bernadette, John, Thomas and Dennis McHugh. Her mother Anna was of German descent and her father John immigrated to the United States from Headford, Ireland. John died in 1940 at a relatively early age by today's standards when Mary Louise was about 12 years old. Her mother Anna continued to live with the family on U Street in Washington until the 1950's and then relocated to Arlington in Northern Virginia after all her children had grown and established their own families. Mary Louise married William George Sevener in 1952 and their first child Timothy was born in 1953. Her son Michael was born in 1954 and daughters Sheila and Janet were born in 1955 and 1957. Mary and William moved to Michigan for about one year after the birth of Timothy but returned to the gentler climate of Northern Virginia shortly after Michael was born. Sheila and Janet were born in Virginia. Although neither Mary nor William completed college degrees, Mary understood the importance of education and played a key role in the early education of all of her children. All have completed college degrees and all of her grandchildren also have completed or are currently completing college degrees. Mary was also a devout Catholic and ensured that all of her children practiced Christian values of love and compassion for others. All four of her children are confirmed Catholics and all regularly engage in acts of community giving. Mary also had a great love for life as expressed through her love of travel, music, and dance. After her marriage to William ended in 1972 she started over and a few years later met the love of her life Nathaniel Rosenfield, with whom she travelled all over the world until his death in 1998. Mary and Nat travelled throughout the United States, Mexico, the Caribbean, Spain and Europe. She took great joy in recounting their many adventures and misadventures. Mary's children are currently spread all over the United States, from New Jersey to Maryland, Texas and Florida. Despite this geographic separation she was the nucleus for many family gatherings that brought her children and grandchildren from the farthest points to share special times with her. She has seven grandchildren; Graham, Miguel, Galadriel, Evan, Patricia, Tiffany and Lila. Her grandchildren are also currently settled in many different locations including Dallas, San Diego, New York, Tampa, Madrid and Boston. Mary also has one great grandchild, Arianna, in Tampa. Those who knew Mary also know her profound love for others, her patience and her forgiveness of transgressions. In recent years her reconciliation with former husband William has been seen as almost miraculous by her children. She passed away in the presence of her four children and grandchild Evan at 11:35 pm on Saturday, August 2, 2014 in peace at her home in Clearwater, Florida. The family ask that donations be made to Suncoast Hospice Foundation. http://www.thehospice.org/Donate
