Because of Leeward so many people are still Living the Dream of being a better version of themselves each day of their lives. How wonderful of him to give all of us such a precious gift. 💝

Hi Kerrie,

My apologies for this delayed response, I just learned of Leeward's death.  I worked with Leeward and Bill Kieckhafer for 15+ years at Polaroid.  Leeward was a terrific colleague - smart, funny, collegial, and always looking on the bright side (which was a challenge in those days at Polaroid, as I'm sure you know).  I pray that he is now enjoying the company of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  I also pray that the many fond memories you shared with Leeward will be a source of comfort each day.  God bless,

We just heard of Leeward's passing and are so sorry for your loss.
Clem & Leeward often chatted outside at the offices in  Dunedin, several years ago.  It was nice to have such a kind and positive person as a neighbor in Dunedin and in Clearwater.  
I often think fondly of painting VBS props with you, Kerrie, and are praying for peace for you and your family.  Godspeed Leeward.

I was saddened to hear the news of Leeward's passing.  Leeward had such a kind heart and was such a pleasure to work with.  He gave his time and commitment to his community and will always be remembered.  Thank you, Leeward to teaching me to listen to those around me and see the positive things in challenging situations.

Dawn and I are so sadden to learn of Leeward's passing. There are not enough men like Leeward in the world. What a loss for his family, our club, and our community.

Rest In Peace, Leeward. You were one of my very favorites, always had a large smile, great laugh, were wise and caring. I thoroughly loved working hand in glove with you for several years on the Carlouel Board. You always had a way of making everyone feel heard, welcome and appreciated. You will be missed greatly.

Dear Kerry and Family,
I happen to run across this beautiful photo that I had taken at the Fashion Show back in 2012, when Leeward helped raise money by being a Hunk selling raffle tickets for Uparc now known as the Arc.  We hope and pray that all your sweet memories and the love from friends and family will help ease your pain and will bring you some peace during this very difficult time.

I first met Leeward in Boston in November 1997.  Leeward had arranged to interview me for a position working for 
him at Ocean Optics, and as they say, the rest is history.  Leeward was the heart and soul of Ocean, and had a profound and lasting influence on everyone he worked with. 
Many great times, stories, always a laugh, and as Leeward loved to say, "living the dream" which is what he named his first boat that I now own.  It's still named "Living the Dream" , and is but one small legacy of a remarkable man.

I met Lee in college and  we quickly became a special group of friends. After graduation he was in my first wedding and he and Sam Dynes shared moments at the wedding that I wish I had seen. 
As Lee and Sam moved into the corporate world of Polaroid together they both 
moved away.  It was many years later that Lee came back into my life. But, it felt like yesterday! There truly is not another person that I’ve known who is as funny, caring, sensitive and giving as Lee. Condolences to your family! I  know you will keep the angels laughing and I’m hoping for another big hug one day!

Kerry.....Words don't come easy to express how sorry I am that he's gone.  Although we lost touch a few years ago...the time spent with him at PRD was such that he'll always be in my thoughts.  He was the brother I never had...a wonderful friend and confidant.
Like so many of the memories posted here, stories about him and the joy he gave to so many of us, could be told for days on end.   
Please know that you and your family are in our prayers.

Very sorry to hear of Leeward's passing.  He was a wonderful man.  I had only a few chances to meet him, both as a mentor to my son Brian at Big Frog, and as patient.  I enjoyed every minute of our times together. He will be remembered and deeply missed.

A force of nature. Mr. Bean was a great mentor and guide since I started school with Caleigh in 1998. You don’t realize how wise someone is until you get older, and Mr. Bean was a guiding force throughout my life. He always had a relevant story, lesson, or great quote to describe something good or bad. Humor was never left out. More than that, he had a heart of gold and embraced the world with a warm smile. When things seemed so uncertain, Mr. Bean was a solid rock of wisdom. He called everyone by name and everyone knew Mr. Bean. He is a true legend. 

I will always look back and picture Mr. Bean on his boat. He was in his true element on his boat, like a fish in the sea. I remember the days when he’d speed at 40mph, pulling 10 kids on a tube, smoking his cigar and a beer in his hand. You could hear his giant laughter and see his grin a mile away as he sped his boat and launched us kids into the air at top speeds. We’d smack the water, get a few bruises, bump into each other, and he’d pull the boat back to make sure we were alive with a smile from ear to ear and say “ready to do it again?!” 

There are no words to really describe the impact you had on my life, Mr. Bean. I will see you in many places, on every boat and tube, in memories around food, in my business giving us advice, and in all the orchids. 

You will live on in everyone who was blessed to cross paths with you. Rest In Peace, my great teacher. I will miss learning from you.

Lee was a life long friend and a good man. The Barbers and Beans had many,  many  great times together.  I do not have a memory of meeting the Beans as they were always there.   
Kerry and family, thank you for graciously opening your house for the "Weave" parties. It was wonderful for us displaced Floridians to be able to maintain friendships with you. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. Love, Louise and Bing Crosby 

Barbara and I extend our condolences to the entire Bean family on Leeward's passing. For as much as Leeward meant to me as a colleague, as a mentor and as a friend, and for all his colorful stories and jokes, what I’ll remember most about Leeward is how he made me feel – which is, to say, happy.  Somewhere, I hope he’s still “livin’ the dream.” 

It is with profound sadness that my friend, roommate, fraternity brother, co-worker has passed. My thoughts are with Kerry and the kids.

Lee offered us all a special, grounded, loving, fun membership in his inner circle. I could tell stories and memories of his huge value and still be talking when the sun rises tomorrow.  His parents and brother, Brian welcomed me into their home and family way back in the day. I'll never forget my appreciation and comfort from his person.  This loss is a crusher.  Brothers for life.
