Nugent, Laura Jean, 72 of Pinellas Park made, made her peaceful transition to a new adventure of love, light and laughter on February 18th 2023, while surrounded by her loving family, friends, and pets. She was from Chews Landing, NJ born April 22nd 1950. She was a devout Christian, a true angel on earth with a servant’s heart. Laura was an active member in many charitable and service organizations such as the Episcopal Girls Friendly Society and AFIRE. She gained her Bachelor Degree later in life in Social Services and worked in the state of Florida serving disabled persons, vocational rehabilitation and mentoring young adults. She also cared for her developmentally disabled sister for 35 years all while working and raising children.
Laura said yes to every opportunity to live life to the fullest. She loved to travel and went to France, England, Africa, Newfoundland, and across North America. Her exceptional creativity and love of the arts has been passed on and will live on for generations to come.
We want to thank Laura for all the people she has touched throughout her life making an unforgettable loving impact. Her life purpose to help others was evident as one could feel her heart radiate as she was led by God.
Laura is preceded in death by her husband John Nugent, parents Jesse and Arlene Ivins, brothers Jay (Linda) and Lonnie, and Connie Ivins. She is survived by her children’s father Edson Tillotson, sister Nancy (Ted) Simmons, Jim (Sylvia) Ivins, Steve (Patti) Ivins; daughters Adrienne and Jacquelyn Tillotson; Grandchildren Forrest Tillotson and Farrah Saige Allen. Nieces Beth Anne Simmons, Zaughn (Joe) Kelly, Zarah Ivins, Shelly (Mike) Kelly, Lonna Ivins, Jenny (Vince) Carbone, Jessica Ivins, LeeAnn (Bill) Farrell, and Samantha Ivins. Nephews Michael Ivins, Greg Simmons, Mike Helvitson; Aunt Betty McSparren and Uncle Albert (Betty) Ivins and many cousins, grandnephews and grandnieces; cherished best friends, and her very special friend Richard Bennett.
Graveside services will be held March 4th at 10am at Sylvan Abbey Memorial Park & Funeral Home 2853 Sunset Point Road Clearwater, FL followed by a reception at the Simmons residence 2050 Coronet Lane Clearwater, FL 33764. In lieu of flowers we will be accepting donations toward her favorite charities.
