Joseph A. Laurinaitis was born and raised in Philadelphia, and moved to the Tampa Bay area in 1986. Joseph was the first member of his family to graduate high school and college. Joseph accepted a full baseball scholarship to LaSalle College, achieved College All American Honors, and was recruited by numerous major league baseball teams. His degree from LaSalle College is in Labor Relations. While in college he served in the U.S. Army Reserve. Joseph is survived by his wife Mary and three sons (Joseph, John and Marc), one stepdaughter (Jasmine), son- and daughter-in-laws (Nick, Beth, Kathy, Kim), six grandchildren (Joseph, James, Jessica, Zack, Maya, Adelind), and five great grandchildren (Claire, Tye, Sadie, Jacob, London). Joseph worked for Honeywell as a Human Resources Manager and retired after 30 years of service in 1997. While at Honeywell, he was active in the Pinellas Education Foundation, Pinellas Teacher Mini-Grant Program and Teacher of the Year, and the St. Petersburg Junior College Advisory Council. Additionally, Joseph was active in Adult Literacy programs and helped establish the Pinellas County Doorways Program. He was a member of the Society for Human Resources Management, LaSalle College Alumni Association and played senior softball in Clearwater for 20 years. Visitation and burial services for Joseph will be Thursday, January 26 at Sylvan Abbey Methodist Church on 2817 Sunset Point Road Clearwater, FL from 10:00 am – 12:00pm. Burial following visitation at the Sylvan Abbey Memorial Park. Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life gathering at the Browne residence: 4891 Bridle Court, East Lake Woodlands, Oldsmar, FL from 2:00 to 5:00pm.
