Jonathan E. Dalke, 71, of St. Petersburg, Florida went to be with the Lord on June 24th, 2016. Born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Jon led a life of ministry and service. He lived his first 10 years in Cuba with his missionary parents. He graduated from Hillsborough High School in Tampa, Florida and Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, Illinois. Jon spent 30 years in a career of radio and TV broadcasting. He helped bring color TV to South America in the early 70s while living in Ecuador, and kept the radio station HJCB, "The Voice of the Andes" on air. He spent many years in Miami with WLRN and WTVJ as an electronics engineer before finishing his career at Video Production Systems as a production designer. He was most proud of his installation of the broadcast feed from the old National Hurricane Center on US Hwy 1 to WTVJ, which he installed to withstand 200 mph winds. Those antennas were the only ones to hold up to the winds of Hurricane Andrew and kept meteorologist Bryan Norcross receiving the weather forecast throughout the duration of the hurricane. Jon is survived by his faithful wife, Alberta of St. Petersburg, Florida; son Andrew Dalke and daughter- in-law Sara Marie Dalke of Trollhattan, Sweden; daughter Christy Nelson and son-in-law Geoff Nelson of St. Petersburg, Florida; and grandchildren Maggie Nelson and Porter Nelson of St. Petersburg, Florida. Jon was faithful in his love and service to the Lord Jesus Christ throughout his life. He will be dearly missed. A private family memorial is planned. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Faith Covenant Church Benevolence Fund, 150 62nd Ave NE, St. Petersburg, FL 33702.
