John H. Coomes

Son of Mr. James H. Coomes and Mrs. Velva Coomes. He is survived by a daughter Laura Coomes of Tarpon Springs, Florida; a son Mark Coomes of Oldsmar, Florida and a brother Mike Coomes of Clearwater, Florida.

John worked for Inland Steele and for Wonder Bread Bakery, while living in Indiana. After many family visits to Florida where his parents had retired, he decided to relocate his family to Clearwater, Florida from Hammond, Indiana in November of 1973. John started his own maintenance business which was very successful. He had a contract which he was very proud of with Gulf House Condominiums on Clearwater Beach Florida since the mid 1970's until 2017. He met many people who became very near and dear to him during these years.

John had a gift in that he related to people across all generations. He was a very sociable, likable, and kindhearted person always putting others first. He would make friends where ever he went, He touched the lives of many. John enjoyed all things nostalgic. His taste in music ranged from big band era to the Beetles and beyond. He was a life long fan of Elvis. He had a love for tall mast ships, the ocean and sunsets. He enjoyed attending older vintage car shows and relished in anything automotive from drag racing to Nascar. Most of all his love and devotion for his daughter and son was endless. He will be very deeply missed by all that knew him.

Graveside service will be 12 noon Saturday Dec. 2nd at Sylvan Abbey Memorial Park, 2860 Sunset Point Rd. Clearwater, Florida 33759
