We, the officers and membership of Peoria Leathernecks Marine Corps League Detachment 081, would like to express our sincere condolences on the passing of our brother in arms.   Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this most difficult time.   Semper Fidelis!!

Blessed to have such amazing memories of Guatemala with Jim & Patti. Jim always made each team member feel like his special kid.  Our “Dad” on these mission trips always made each person feel special. Loved. I remember when one team member missed the flight. Jim, without a thought, got off the plane and stayed behind to help her. Reminded me of scripture, leaving the 99 for the one lost. Jim will be greatly missed. He was greatly loved. His life truly honored the Father. Well DoneFriend, Well Done. 

Dear Patti:  While we fully intended to be at the funeral for Jim; we find it impossible to be there as we have a previous commitment at church.  However, we  wanted to let you know how sorry we are to hear of Jim's passing but know our Lord is rejoicing with him.  Jim was so kind to each of us and we will always be thankful for the opportunity you gave us to  lead the Guatemala Mission Teams after you retired.  We are forever changed and truly know how much Jim cherished the Guatemalan people. Well done to a good and faithful servant of God.   May God give you peace and comfort as you grieve his death.

Jim you and Patti are the reason I love Guatemala mission trips. You planted a seed that has grown for years. I will never forget all the amazing mission trips we took together. I have the videos you would make for us and put together to capture our time serving. You were truly a servant of GIF and it showed in your love for Patti, mission teams and Guatemalans. Thank You for all you gave and who you were. 

Jim is such an awesome man of God. I went with Jim and Patti on many mission trips. One time a member of our mission team to Guatemala  ran late and could not catch the plane. He stayed behind to be with her and keep her safe. He also was a great example of a loving husband for Patti. You will be missed but will see you again in heaven one day. 💖💖💖

It is so difficult to say goodbye to you as it has been awhile since we last saw you. I know you are in a much better place alongside Jesus and mom and dad.  Your suffering is at an end Praise the Lord!   Thank God everyday for you as you were a wonderful brother to me and showed me such love.  Rest In Peace dear brother.  My forever love. 


We are still in the disbelief stage that you have gone on to a better place as you have been promised through our Lord, Jesus Christ.  It is hard to accept since we were unable to be with you, but we have such comfort in knowing that you are no longer suffering.   You were a wonderful Brother and I cherish the special place you have in my heart.    Until we meet again, Rest In Peace.   I Love You, forever.
