He was born in Ypsilanti, Michigan on October 7, 1959 to the late Rebecca and Robert Day Sr.
In 1971, Jeff’s family relocated to Clearwater where he graduated from Clearwater High School in 1978. He then went on to St. Petersburg College and Columbia Southern University for Fire Administration.
Jeff began his fire career in 1981 at Indian Rocks Special Fire Control District. Three years later, he was hired with Largo Fire Rescue where he achieved and maintained several titles and certifications such as Lieutenant, District Chief, Division Chief of Training, Deputy Chief, and Interim Fire Chief before retiring in 2009. He took pride in his work with the Largo Explorer Program, Extrication and Hazmat Teams, and Live Fire Training. He also taught at St. Petersburg College and Pasco Hernando State College. After retiring from Largo Fire Rescue, Jeff served The Villages Public Safety Department as Fire Inspector and later Deputy Chief. He then went on to be a NICU Transporter at Winnie Palmer Hospital in Orlando. In his spare time, he enjoyed driving for Workman Transportation and mowing neighbor’s lawns.
Those left to cherish his legacy are his beloved wife, Marsha Day; daughter, Nicole (Johnathan Carnley) Day; granddaughter, Reagan Grace Carnley; brother, Gregory Day; many extended family members, Firefighter brothers and sisters, and friends.
In addition to his parents, Jeff was preceded in death by his brothers, Robert Day Jr. and Roger Day.
A visitation will be held on Friday, August 25, 2023 from 4-6pm at Sylvan Abbey Funeral Home, 2853 Sunset Point Road Clearwater, Florida 33759. The Funeral Service will be held at 11am on Saturday, August 26, 2023 at Calvary Church, 110 McMullen Booth Rd, Clearwater, FL 33759, the family will receive guest an hour prior to service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to The National Fallen Firefighter Foundation and The American Cancer Society.
