Jim was born in Fall River, Massachusetts to the late James E. Johnson, Sr. and Lydia Hicks Johnson. He received a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Denver in Colorado. Jim served in the Air Force during World War II and was stationed in England. He worked for an aerospace company on the Space Program at Cape Kennedy and upon retiring, Jim moved to Palm Harbor where he was a resident for the past 25 years. Jim was socially active in his church and enjoyed world travel, woodworking, bowling and music.
Jim is survived by his special friend, Tina Allen; sister and brother-in-law, Marion and Francis Sullivan of Yarmouth, MA; brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Maureen Johnson of Las Vegas, NV; seven nephews and two nieces; and six great-nephews and four great-nieces. He is also survived by step-daughters Lynne Kingsmill and husband Michael; Bonnie Barker and husband, Jerry; and Kathleen Markett; ten step-grandchildren; sixteen step-great-grandchildren; and three step-great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ruth Johnson and his second wife, Lynn D. Johnson.
Memorial donations may be made in Mr. Johnson's name to The American Cancer Society, The American Heart Association, or The American Kidney Foundation.
A Life Celebration in Jim's honor will be officiated by Rev. Bob Fortner and held at Unity Church of Palm Harbor where he was an member. Please join friends and family on Saturday, March 24, at 3:00 pm at 1960 Tampa Road, Palm Harbor, FL. 727-784-7911.
