surrounded by his loving family. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and proud patriot, Jim
brought laughter, warmth, and unwavering love to everyone fortunate enough to know him.
Born on February 8, 1956, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Jim grew up with a steadfast work
ethic and a heart full of joy. For 38 years, he proudly served as a postal letter carrier, brightening
the days of his customers with a smile, a wave, and a kind word. Alongside his career, he ran a
successful landscaping business, where his love for the outdoors truly flourished.
Jim’s love for his country was matched only by his love for his community. He was a proud
member and dedicated volunteer at VFW Post 2550 in Dunedin, Florida, where he found
immense purpose and camaraderie among fellow veterans and patriots. He poured his heart into
supporting the post’s mission, embodying the spirit of service and dedication to those who
served.
When he wasn’t working or volunteering, Jim embraced life to its fullest. He found serenity on
the water, where boating became one of his greatest joys, creating countless cherished memories.
Bowling and golfing were other passions, filling his time with fun, laughter, and friendly
competition in local leagues. But above all, he treasured time spent with his family and friends—
his true pride and joy.
Jim was a man of deep conviction and boundless kindness, embodying the American values of
hard work, loyalty, and generosity. His infectious laughter, larger-than-life personality, and
unwavering love leave behind a legacy that will be profoundly missed but never forgotten.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Mallie Fagan; children, James T. (Beth) Fagan,
Matthew (Cassandra) Fagan, Tiffany Fagan; grandchildren, Kairi Fagan, Soyer Campbell, James
Fagan, Finn Fagan, Ellie Fagan, Ezra Arkin; brothers, William (Agnes) Fagan, Robert (Suzanne) Fagan;
sister-in-law, Barbara Fagan; nine nieces and nephews; cousins; many other family members and
dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, William John Fagan; mother, Regina Delores Fagan; and
brother, Patrick Fagan.
The family will receive guests for a visitation on Friday, January 17th, from 5–7 pm at Sylvan
Abbey Funeral Home, 2853 Sunset Point Road, Clearwater, Florida, 33759. A funeral service
will follow at 7 pm.
A celebration of Jim’s life will take place on Saturday, January 18, at noon, at VFW Post 2550,
360 Douglas Avenue, Dunedin, Florida, 34698.
In true Jim fashion, the family asks that attendees dress casually—no suits, just come as you are
to celebrate a life well-lived.
Donations can be made to VFW Post 2550 in Jim’s memory to honor his legacy and the
community he loved so dearly.
