Helen Annette (Wenger) Boyd, 92, of Niles, MI, passed away on May 18, 2017. Helen was born in Wakarusa, IN. She lived most of her life in Niles, MI. For the past several years, Helen has lived in Clearwater, FL. Helen is preceded in death by her sister, Eunice (Wenger) Hall; brother John D. Wenger; brother-in-law Ray Hall; daughters Sally (Boyd) Linn, Mary (Boyd) Euans, and Jeanne Boyd; grandson Stephen Boyd. She is survived by her brother, Russell (Doris) Wenger of Ohio; sister-in-law, Doris Wenger, of Indiana; son, Timothy (Karen) Boyd of Hawaii; daughters Joanne (Boyd) Hawley of Florida and Nancy (John) Bell, of North Carolina; son-in-law E. Wayne Linn of Texas; grandchildren Stacy (John) Boler, Michele Linn, Melissa Linn, Michael Linn, Angela (Tawni) Euans-Davis, Raymond (Elizabeth) Hawley, Victoria Hawley, and William Hawley; great-grandchildren Richard, Elizabeth (Aaron), Eric, Alec, Millicent, and Alina; great-great-grandchildren William and Grant. Helen was born on January 29, 1925, to parents Russell Wenger and Ruth (Weldy) Wenger. She graduated from Jimtown High School, where she was a cheerleader (bloomer girl). She served in the United States Navy during World War II. She went on to marry, raise a family, and retired from Clark Equipment company in Buchanan, MI in the early 1980s. Helen was a Christian and an active member of Hope Community Church prior to moving to Clearwater, FL. She was known as “the hug lady” and her primary purpose in life was serving God. Helen enjoyed spending time with her family, telling stories, watching Nascar, basketball (Larry Bird), and old classic movies, driving her Ford Mustang, playing cards and backgammon, drinking Coca Cola and eating tons of onions and popcorn with butter. A memorial is scheduled for Saturday, June 10, 2017 at Bethel Apostolic Tabernacle at 945 Chippewa St., Buchanan, MI, 49107. Visitation is from 10:00am – 10:30am. Service begins at 10:30am. All are welcome to attend the memorial service and celebrate Helen’s life. Following the memorial, Helen’s family members will attend a graveside service at 12:30pm.
