George "Doug" Krause

George "Doug" Krause, age 89, of Clearwater, Florida passed away on Friday, January 1, 2021. "Doug" was born May 17, 1931 in Louisville, Kentucky to parents Bernard and Marie Krause, and grew up with his older brother Bernard, Jr. He served in the US Air Force during the Korean War, and later attended the University of Kentucky, where he received a degree in Mechanical Engineering.

After leaving the Air Force, Doug married Betty Jean Harryman in 1955, and they had three children. Over the years, they spent time in Louisville, New Jersey, Pittsburgh, Chicago, and Connecticut, before finally settling in Palm Harbor, FL. Doug and Jean enjoyed having family and friends visit them in Palm Harbor, and always looked forward to the next visit. Doug was an avid Kentucky Wildcats fan, and would never miss watching a basketball game. He also was a volunteer for Suncoast Hospice for many years.

He is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 49 years, Jean Krause. He is survived by his three children, Stephen Krause (Maria) of Washington, PA, Kathyrn Craig of Venice, FL, and Donna Krause of New Port Richey, FL; grandchildren Geoffrey Krause, Jake Krause, and Ryan Krause; nieces and nephews.

A visitation for "Doug" will be held Saturday, January 9, 2021 from 9:30 AM to 10:00 AM at Sylvan Abbey Funeral Home, 2853 Sunset Point Rd., Clearwater, Florida 33759. A funeral service will occur Saturday, January 9, 2021 from 10:00 AM to 10:30 AM, 2853 Sunset Point Rd., Clearwater, Florida 33759. A graveside service will occur Saturday, January 9, 2021 from 11:00 AM to 11:30 AM at Sylvan Abbey Memorial Park, 2860 Sunset Point Rd., Clearwater, Florida 33759. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Suncoast Hospice at www.suncoasthospice.org.
