Edward Robert Fairhurst left this life on January 25, 2016. He leaves behind his loving wife Susan, to whom he was married for over 25 years, and his three beautiful children: Curtis Fairhurst, Kim Smith with her husband Dan, and Christopher Fairhurst with his wife Jayme. Also left to carry on his legacy are six wonderful grandchildren, Kyle & Cara Fairhurst, Shane & Karley Smith and Ethan & Wyatt Fairhurst. He is also survived by his parents Ed & Jeanne Fairhurst. Eddie, as he was known by his friends, was born in the Bronx, New York on October 14, 1939. He was the oldest of five children. It was there in the Bronx that his love of New York and city life started and remained forever in his heart. He loved to tell stories of those days living on Crotona Park North. At the age of 14, the family moved to Brentwood, Long Island where a new chapter of his life began. Eddie graduated from high school and worked a series of jobs until he landed his dream position as a tractor-trailer truck driver. From behind wheel and over the open road, he saw the world and added to his volume of stories and adventures. He met Susan on Long Island. They later married and lived in Pennsylvania where he worked driving for Yellow Freight. A few years later Eddie's job moved to Oklahoma, where Eddie got to be a real cowboy. After retiring Eddie and Susan moved to Florida to be closer to family. Eddie will be remembered as a great story-teller who loved to make others laugh. He enjoyed reading about history, especially the Civil War and World War II. He shared his mother's love of old movies and life in Hollywood. He shared his father's love of the Yankees. He will be missed by all those who loved him including his siblings: Sharon "Ronnie" Zambelli and her husband Nick; Pamela "Donnie" Mansfield and her husband Don; George Fairhurst and his wife Nancy; Keitha Paleski and her husband Rich; his brother-in-law Michael Fiorentino and his wife Barbara; and his sister-in-law Joyce Fiorentino. He leaves nine nieces and nephews: Scott, Dean, Stacey, John, Allison, Donald, RJ, Dara and Sydney. Eddie touched the lives of everyone he met. He was a warm, loving man with a huge heart and an even bigger smile .
