Born October 21, 1936 in Toledo, Ohio. Earl was preceded in death by his parents Garnet and Vernon Murphy; first wife Wanda, sisters Marilyn (Harold) Robinson and Libby (Robert) Lemlich.
Survived by his sister, Nancy McCabe; daughters Lorrie (Deepak) Kohli and Elizabeth (Joseph) Marsh; sons Mitchell (Hannah) Murphy and David Murphy; second wife Linda Murphy, stepson Kirk (Beverly) Daniels; and nine grandchildren, Ravi, Rohan and Maya Kohli, Corey, Sean, Hanah, Keli and Evie Murphy, and Meesha Murphy and many nieces, nephews, cousins and a multitude of friends and colleagues.
Earl graduated high school in Dayton, Kentucky and graduated college at California State University in Northridge, CA with a Bachelor's Degree in English.
Earl entered the Army in 1954 and received his basic training at Ft. Knox. He completed the guided missile mechanical systems repair course at Ordnance Guided Missile School, Redstone Arsonal, Huntsville, AL. He was wounded and honorably discharged.
Earl began a civil service career with the Health Education and Welfare Department of the Federal Government until his retirement.
Earl was an avid reader and loved to give his insight to his children and grandchildren. Earl traveled across the United States with his family visiting many national parks and museums. He loved driving and travelling on AMTRAK to share with his children the gift of beautiful America.
Earl will be laid to rest at Sylvan Abbey Memorial Park in Clearwater, Florida. A celebration of Earl's life and private memorial service will be planned at a date and time when the pandemic has passed.
