Donald Davis Phillips went home to be with his Savior on 10/09/2022. He was born on 10/24/1927 to Rufus Burnice Phillips and Virginia June Davis, and grew up in Tarpon Springs. After he completed service in the Army of Occupation in Japan, he returned to Clearwater and married Sally A. Moore, a marriage that would last over 73 years. They were blessed with two daughters, Donna Denise Wilson (Rick) and Jacqueline Ann Bohnker (Bruce). They have five grandchildren: Summer (Jeff) Burnett, Rebecca Wilson-Moonilal (Simon), Suzanne Sturgis (Jesse), Robert Bohnker, Christopher Bohnker (Jillian); Six great grandchildren: Skyler Jones (Julian), Tiana Acosta, Autumn Burnett, Jolie Moonilal, Hannah Bohnker, Charles Bohnker and one great, great grandchild, Jace Jones. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Fran and one nephew, Rod (Tina). He was predeceased by his parents, his brother Rufus, and nephew Benjamin Phillips (Debbie)
Don worked as a lawn mower mechanic in Clearwater and enjoyed working with his hands. His family was blessed by his many wooden constructions. His relationship with his Savior was important to him, and he was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and then Starkey Road Baptist Church. He enjoyed time with his family, his friends and his church. His memories will be treasured by his family and friends.
A visitation will occur Saturday, October 15, 2022 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, 8800 Starkey Rd, Largo, FL 33777. A funeral service for Donald will be held Saturday, October 15, 2022 from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm followed by a graveside service at Sylvan Abbey Memorial Park, 2860 Sunset Point Rd, Clearwater, FL 33759.
