Dennis was born in Orlando, Florida. He was one of nine children, having four brothers and four sisters. He is now blessed with so many loving nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great, greats that there is not space to list them all. Dennis held a bachelors degree in sociology and criminal justice and a masters degree in social psychology. During his working life as a sworn probation officer with the Florida Department of Corrections, Dennis earned a Certified Public Managers designation and was very active in both the Florida Society of Certified Public Managers (FSCPM) and American Academy of Certified Public Managers (AACPM). He served as President of the Tampa Bay Chapter of the FSCPM; President of the FSCPM for two terms, and President of the AACPM. He was also extremely active on many state and national committees. A committed community member, Dennis was also: Past Chair and past Vice-Chair, Code Enforcement Board, City of Safety Harbor; reappointed to three 3-year terms Past Vice-Chair and member, Zoning Board, City of Safety Harbor Past Member of the Occupational Equity Committee for the City of Safety Harbor Past Member of the Friends of the Safety Harbor Library Past Chair of the Human Rights Advocacy Committee, H.R.S. District V (appointed by then Governor Lawton Chiles and reappointed for a second term by Gov. Chiles) Past Vice-President of the Florida Council on Crime and Delinquency – Pinellas Chapter XXII Past Chair of the Department of Corrections Region V Stat-Team Past Grand Knight and past Deputy Grand Knight, Knights of Columbus, Council 9916 Active in a number of area British car clubs as well as in Pennsylvania. Active in the community of Treasure Lake in Dubois, PA, serving on the Water Committee, the Lake and Stormwater Committee, and Recreation Committee. Member of the New World Celts. Member of the Knights Templar of Britannia Dennis was a world traveler with a keen sense of adventure, a lover of all things Irish, a music lover (having put himself through college and grad school by playing guitar in a rock band), a super-fan of the group the Bronx Wanderers, an amateur magician who was skilled at sleight of hand, strongly spiritual, and just plain fun! Dennis and Jean were married for 29 years and shared many adventures related to travel, music, and professional interests. Many loving family members and friends shared those good times with them. He is and will be missed terribly by Jean, his family and his friends.
