Denise J. Annas, a loving family member, devout Orthodox Christian and passionate educator of young children died in Tallahassee, Florida on April 12, 2023. She was born in Miami, Florida on October 30, 1963. Denise is survived by her husband, James Annas, her son, Steven Annas and her daughter, Kathryn Annas. Also, her mother, Victoria Hambsh, her sister Eleni Moore and her brother, William Hambsh. She was preceded in death by her father, Richard Hambsh. Denise’s family moved to Clearwater, Florida when she was in seventh grade and lived there most of her life. She graduated from Countryside High School in 1981 and later from St. Petersburg College in 2007 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Exceptional Student Education and ESOL. Denise used her degree to educate hundreds of young children, many of which were special needs. She loved spending time with children reading them books, teaching them letters and numbers and playing many games to expand their knowledge. Most of all, she gave them her total attention and unconditional love. Denise worked at a few different schools but loved her time at Lake St. George Elementary School in Palm Harbor, Florida where she worked with Nichole Jackson. In 2022, Denise’s family moved to Tallahassee, Florida to be closer to her mother and brother.
A vigil for Denise Annas is scheduled on Thursday, April 20, 2023 from 6pm to 8pm, with Trisagion Service starting at 7pm, at Sylvan Abbey in Clearwater, Florida. A church service for Denise Annas is scheduled on Friday, April 21, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Stefanos Greek Orthodox Church in St. Petersburg, Florida. A graveside service at Sylvan Abbey in Clearwater, Florida will follow. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to a Go Fund Me page which will go to support the classroom Denise worked in before moving to Tallahassee.
