It is with great sorrow that we announce the unexpected passing of Claudette Heather-May Hansell Powell on October 20, 2020. She was born on November 10, 1961 in Jamaica and immigrated to the United States in 1978. She married Christopher Powell in 1987 and was the mother to three loving children – Moya Burgess-Robinson, Courtney Powell and Micah Powell.
She worked as a hairdresser for several years and later became a registered nurse for over twenty years. She loved cooking great meals, gardening and doing crossword puzzles. She loved cruising on water and on land and her favorite trip was the cruise to Alaska with her husband. She attended the Eastlake Cathedral Church of God in Christ in New Port Richey.
She is survived by her loving husband and children; her mother, Enid “Thelma” Henry; her stepfather, Edward Henry; her siblings, Carole Henry, Cynthia Henry, Maureen Hancel, Theophilus Hancel and Nadja Hancel; her son-in-law, Jonathan Robinson and future daughter-in-law, Anca Dragnev and her stepmother, Valda Hancel. She is predeceased by her father, Oscar Hancel.
Due to COVID-19 concerns, attendance at the service will be by invitation only, but will be live-streamed.
