Carol Fowler Tipps, 83, of Safety Harbor, FL, passed away on June 11th, 2023. She is preceded in death by her parents Clifton Lewis Fowler and Alice Hower Fowler, her brother Ralph Fowler, her sister Linda Fowler Welborne, and her husband of 54 years, James Tipps Sr. She is survived by her daughter Pamela (Richard) Case, son Jim (Lisa) Tipps Jr., and grandchildren Andrew, Trevor, and Stuart Case, and Lindsey and Courtney Tipps, as well as her sisters, Mary Fowler Geier and Barbara Fowler Campbell.
Carol was born in Birmingham, Alabama and while she moved several times growing up, she always considered Birmingham to be her home and chose to begin her adult life there. It was there that she met her husband, James (“Jim”), married, and embarked on a journey dictated by Jim’s assignments with the JC Penney Company. They moved often throughout his career, living in 11 different cities in 5 states. Carol was a trooper and bloomed where she was planted in each location, including her last stop at Safety Harbor, where she has lived for the past 37 years.
Carol enjoyed tending to her flower garden, which was filled with unique and beautiful daylilies, and traveling the U.S., especially to the Great Smoky Mountains, where Carol and Jim spent most of their summers. She cherished spending quality time with her family and friends, as well as her 3 special “granddogs.”
The family will receive friends at Sylvan Abbey Funeral Home on Saturday, June 24th, 2023 beginning with visitation at 10 AM, followed by a celebration of life at 11:00 and concluding with a graveside service at noon. Donations may be made in Carol’s honor to the Alzheimer’s Association.
