Carol A. Baldwin, age 88, of Palm Harbor, Florida passed away on Wednesday July 27, 2022 after a long battle with dementia. Mom passed away peacefully on the evening of the 27th at her home at Arden Court Memory Care. Mom was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on July 4, 1934, the oldest of four children of Eugene Joseph Brueckner and Henrietta Ann Joerg. She grew up in Cincinnati and attended school through two years of college before marrying our father in Nov, 1954. They had four children, Claire Ann, Mary Susan, Gail Catherine, and Richard Paul. In October 1959, they decided to leave the cold and snow for the sunny shores of Florida and settled in Clearwater. After the birth of Richard Paul and Gail’s death, mom went back to college at USF and finished her degree in Elementary Education. She taught her whole career for the Pinellas County School District teaching at various schools in Largo, Dunedin and Palm Harbor. At the urging of our father, mom retired after 27 years so that they could travel. They enjoyed traveling the world and the United States, learning about the history and culture of many different lands and making new friends. In retirement, Mom stayed busy with golfing, singing with the Sweet Adalines, working in the Highland Lakes community library, reading, visiting family, and spoiling her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Mom loved her family, loved being Oma to her 7 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard C. Baldwin, her daughter Gail and son-in-law Wayne Alford. The family wants to say thank you to everyone for their thoughts and prayers through her decline and during this difficult time. At our parents request, Mom is being cremated and will be interred with our father at Bay Pines National Cemetery.
