Bruce U. Shaw, age 65, of Clearwater, passed away on August 20, 2013. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Linda, daughter Lori, and sons Andy and David; seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Mr. Shaw was born to Dr. Henry I. Shaw, Sr. and Mrs. Dorothy (Greis) Shaw on January 15, 1948 in New York City. He graduated from Ft. Myers High School, Edison Junior Collegeboth located in Ft. Myers, Florida, and the University of South Florida with a BA in Criminal Justice. He also graduated from the the Association of American Railroads' International Railroad Police Academy in Chicago, IL, and was an Award of Merit Graduate of the Tampa Police Academy. Appointed as a Special Officer for a Common Carrier by the Governor of Florida, he served 35 years with the Police Departments of CSX Transportation and predecessor railroads, starting with the Seaboard Coast Line Railroad. He worked his entire career in the Tampa Bay area and was the last railroad police officer to be stationed in Pinellas County. He was a member of Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 108, Hillsborough Sheriff's Lodge. His interests included boating, fishing, camping, traveling and ATV trail riding. He was deeply loved and will be sorely missed by his family and friends. A Memorial Service will be held at St. Paul's United Methodist Church Chapel (1199 S. Highland Ave, Largo, FL) on Monday August 26 at 3:00 PM. In lieu of flowers the family asks that you please donate to Pinellas County SPCA.
