Barbara R. Kriner was born September 13, 1931 in Washington D.C. to Vincent Edward Heaton and Ruth Elizabeth Heaton (Rush). Barbara, the youngest of three, is predeceased by her two brothers Thomas Rush Heaton and Carl Edward Heaton as well as both her parents and her husband of 36 years James Irwin Kriner.
Barbara Kriner was married to James Irwin Kriner on December 12, 1952 in Indianapolis, IN. They met while singing in the church choir. They went on to have three boys.
Barbara is survived by her three sons; David Alan Kriner, James Edward Kriner, and Philip Mark Kriner. She is also survived by her grandchildren James Suryo Kriner, Paul Vincent Kriner, Jennifer Marie Evans, Sean Philip Kriner, David James Kriner, and 8 great grandchildren.
Barbara attended Indiana University where she studied Nursing and later earned her Bachelor's of science in Nursing. In her early years of marriage Barbara, James and their three boys lived in Germany, Switzerland, and other parts of Europe. She was the first American nurse to earn licensure in Germany and upon her return to the United States she continued her work in nursing until her late 60's. Living most of her adult life in Clearwater, Florida.
Barbara enjoyed traveling and was an avid horticulturist. She played the piano as a young girl and in her later years she enjoyed knitting and playing bridge. Barbara was an amazing women with a caring heart. She will be deeply missed by family, friends, and all who knew her.
Visitation will be Sunday October 7, 2018 from 10 to 12 PM followed by a service at Sylvan Abbey Funeral Home. Interment will take place in Sylvan Abbey Memorial Park.
