Barbara F Benjamin

Barbara A. Benjamin, age 71, of St. Petersburg, FL passed away on Friday, May 25, 2018 at Palms of Pasadena Hospital under the loving care of her doctors, family and the wonderful ICU Nurses. Born in Detroit, MI, she was the daughter of the late Henry & Elizabeth (Green) Ferguson. Barbara moved to St. Petersburg with her family in 1950 where she attended local schools and graduated in 1964 from Northeast High School. After high school she attended and graduated from Bixby Business College and went to work for A.G. Edwards. She later went to work for Pinellas County Schools where she would retire with more than 20 years working at Nina Harris ESE as well as Hamilton Disston School. In 2008 she moved to Spring Hill, FL and became a member of the Hibiscus Springs Mermaids where she made many great friends. In 2016 Barbara moved back to Pinellas County. Barbara enjoyed gardening and loved caring for the numerous pets she rescued throughout the years. She was also known for her wonderful baking and Christmas cookie trays. She was also a longtime member of AA. Barbara was pre-deceased by her parents, Henry & Elizabeth (Green) Ferguson, previous husbands, Austin “Buddy” Urschel and Daryl “Ben” Benjamin, grandsons Ryan Urschel Vitko and Christian Vitko as well as numerous beloved pets to include her precious Maggie. Barbara is survived by her daughter Amy Urschel Driscoll & husband Jay, her grandchildren Tyler, Katie and Micah Vitko, sister Patricia Reed and husband Mike, niece Michele Giles and husband Johnny, niece Melissa Bell, nieces Amanda & Cortney, nephew Brendan, her step-children Tricia, Daryl and Donnie, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Barbara will always be remembered as a kind and generous woman. A Celebration of Life will be held in her honor on Sunday, July 1, 2018 from 2:00-4:00pm. It will be held at the Garden Club of St. Petersburg, located at: 500 Sunset Dr. S
