

He was born July 10, 1933 in Clearfield, the son of Allan and Hilda (Hudson) Winters.
Bill graduated from Clearfield Area High School, Class of 1951.
He was employed at Tafco and also had worked as a sheet metal journeyman until his retirement.
Bill served in the U.S. Army in Germany from 1953-1955. He was a member of the Gethsemane U.M.C. Church, Allport, a lifetime member of BPO Elks #540, and the American Legion, Post 6, Clearfield.
During their 72 years of marriage, Bill and his wife Fay traveled in the U.S. extensively pursuing their love of fishing, especially fly fishing, in many western states. They traveled to Alaska in their motorhome and spent many winters in Yuma, AZ with family and friends hiking and riding four wheelers in the desert. Bill was known as a jokester and will be remembered for making those around him laugh.
He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Fay O. (Duttry) Winters, whom he married on October 25th, 1953; two children, Cindy McCorkle and her husband, Kirk Andrea Winters and her partner, Vera Lockey; three grandchildren, Mark Lockett and his wife, Jennifer; Amanda Riggleman and her husband, Sean; Jessica McCorkle and her partner, Brandon Brickley; two great-grandchildren, Evan and Ellie Lockett; a step-grandchild and great-grandchild, Holly (Bodle) Chrostowski and Emma Chrostowski; one sister, Hilda Mayhew and her husband, Nick; sister-in-law Bonnie Winters and son-in-law, Les Bodle; along with nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents, Bill is preceded in death by a daughter, Diane Bodle and a brother, Cloyd J. Winters.
Funeral services will be held at Bennett & Houser Funeral Home, Inc. on Monday, April 14 at 11 a.m. with Pastor Sherilyn Sheets officiating. Interment will be in Centre Cemetery, Hyde.
Friends will be received at Bennett & Houser Funeral Home, Inc. on Sunday, April 13, from 4 – 7 p.m. and on Monday, April 14 from 10 a.m. until the time of services at 11 a.m.
