Mr. Kennedy was born November 30, 1952 in Clearfield, the son of Edmund J. “Ted” and Josephine M. (Shamp) Kennedy.
He was a graduate of St. Francis High School, class of 1970, DuBois Business College, and Thiel College, class of 1976.
Mr. Kennedy worked in Fiscal Services at Clearfield Hospital for twenty years and was administrator of the former Philipsburg Area Hospital for six years. He retired as a caseworker from the Clearfield County Assistance Office in July of 2015.
He was a member of the West Side United Methodist Church of Clearfield.
Mr. Kennedy for many years was on the boards of the Clearfield Chapter of the American Red Cross, and the Clearfield Stoneworkers Federal Credit Union.
He was a Veteran of the United States Air Force having served during the Vietnam Era.
Michael is survived by his wife, Brenda S. (Swales) Kennedy whom he married August 9, 1975 at West Side United Methodist Church; two children, Michael Paul Kennedy and his wife Heather of Aliquippa and Sarah Elizabeth Corner and her husband William of Beaver; four grandchildren, Ella Chase, Michael John “MJ” and Charlotte Corner, and Maddox Kennedy; three brothers, Edmund R. Kennedy and his wife Rita of Williamsport, Thomas A. Kennedy, and Ronald D. Kennedy and his wife Louise all of Clearfield; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Paul and Mary Swales of Clearfield and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mr. Kennedy was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Catherine L. Stover, and a sister-in-law, Joyce (Uncles) Kennedy.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at the West Side United Methodist Church on Saturday, October 20, 2018 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Dr. Joleen A. Willis officiating.
Friends will be received at the church on Friday, October 19, 2018 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 PM and on Saturday from 10:00 AM until the hour of services.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the West Side United Methodist Church, 317 Nichols Street, Clearfield, PA 16830, the Hahne Regional Cancer Center, 100 Hospital Drive, DuBois, PA 15801 or charity of the donor’s choice.
