Born December 18, 1921 in West Decatur the daughter of William and Adda (Peters) Parks, she lived on a farm with her parents, four brothers and three sisters.
She often talked about her early years when she would gather eggs, played in the creek on hot summer days and picked berries to help her mother bake pies. The family had no vehicle at that time so she and her sisters and mother would ride the train into Clearfield to go shopping.
When her elementary school years were over, she came to Clearfield to live with her sister Vada during the week to attend Junior High School and then returned home for the weekend.
On May 10, 1940, she married Jesse Henchbarger and they were blessed with a daughter, Bonnie and a son, Burton.
Mrs. Henchbarger was a Homemaker with many interests. She was a member of the West Side United Methodist Church, the women’s card club, the Hobby Garden Club and the Chinklacamoose Modern Western Square Dancing Club. She and Jesse traveled to many states with the dance club. They also went to Canada many summers to fish and to Rehoboth Beach to enjoy the sun.
Her passion was flowers. She planted, weeded and saved seeds to use the next year. She had flowers and plants inside and outside her home.
Marie is survived by her son; Burton L. Henchbarger and his wife Patricia of Clearfield, two grandsons; Randy Powell and Steven Powell (Diane), nine step grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, ten great-great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
