Born August 6, 1930 in Clearfield, she was the daughter of the late Lloyd and Isabelle Shaw. She was a 1948 graduate of the Clearfield Area High School and after graduation was employed with Harbison Walker.
On December 25, 1950, Margaret married the love of her life James C. Mitchell. They were happily married for over 66 years until his death on October 11, 2017. She was a lifelong member of the West Side United Methodist Church where they were married.
Margaret’s family was her utmost pride and joy. She was a devoted wife, homemaker, mother, and grandmother. She excelled at all. She was happiest making special memories during holidays, birthdays, and attending gatherings with family and friends. Margaret enjoyed baking, being outside, and tending to her beautiful flower gardens which were always the envy of her neighbors. She loved her time in Zionsville, IN living near her two beloved grandchildren and attending their school events and activities. Being with them brightened each day.
Margaret will be forever in our hearts and deeply missed by daughters Debra (George) Kline of Clearfield, Diane (Brian) Bakaysa of Naples, FL, and two adored grandchildren Katie Bakaysa of Brookhaven, GA and Nick Bakaysa of Evanston, IL. She is also survived by nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother Ira Shaw and sister, Lola Estep.
Funeral services will be held at the Bennett and Houser Funeral Home Inc. in Clearfield on Friday, October 7, 2022, at noon with Rev. Dave McElwee officiating. Family and friends will be welcomed at the funeral home Friday at 11:00AM prior to the service.
Margaret will be laid to rest next to her husband at the Historic Crown Crest Cemetery in Hyde, PA.
