Born January 10, 1925 in Smith Falls, Ontario, Canada, she was the daughter of Thomas and Elsie (MacDiarmid) Ridings.
Mrs. Mohney worked in the cafeteria of the Clearfield Area School District for 27 years, retiring in January 1989.
Tharon was a member of the West Side United Methodist Church of Clearfield.
Mrs. Mohney had volunteered for the Area Agency on Aging, Meals on Wheels and had been an escort at Clearfield Hospital. She was also a past member of the Junior Women’s Club. Tharon loved bowling and competed on various leagues up to the age of 90 and was an avid Pittsburgh Pirates fan.
Tharon is survived by her three children: William M. Mohney III (Janet Michaels Hrobak) of Butler, Sherryl J. Shaw of Clearfield and Nancy L. Gibbons of Clearfield; eight grandchildren: Adam Mohney (Mindy), Troy Mohney (Chris), Scott Mohney, Kelly Schwab (Kevin), Brenda Shaw (Michael Kovalcin), Todd Shaw (Amber), Wayne Gibbons II and Katelyn Gibbons; fourteen great grandchildren and a brother-in-law, Larry B. Mohney.
She was the last member of her generation having been preceded in death by her parents, her husband, William M. Mohney, Jr., whom she married January 20, 1945 and who passed away July 11, 1997, a sister, Mary Eleanor Keller, a son-in-law, Rodger D. Shaw and a brother-in-law, Wilbur C. Keller.
Funeral Services will be held at the Bennett and Houser Funeral Home, Inc. of Clearfield on Wednesday, February 21, 2024 at 11:00 AM with Rev. David McElwee officiating. Interment will be in Historic Crown Crest Cemetery.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Tuesday, February 20, 2024 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM and on Wednesday from 10:00 AM until the hour of services.
