Born on June 2, 1949 in Altoona, PA, he was the son of Harry P. and Mary (Nicholson) Walter.
John was a 1967 graduate of Hollidaysburg High School, Hollidaysburg, PA.
In 1975 in Roaring Spring, PA, he married the love of his life, his Indian Princess, the former Gloria Jean Dodson. Together they raised their two sons, John “Johny” and Todd.
John was a member of Lance Free Angelical Church, Lance, PA.
John was owner and operator of J & J Automotive, Saxton, PA and also worked as a State Farm Automotive Claims Adjuster in the Clearfield office.
He loved Classic and Hot Rod cars. John was a talented woodworker and known to be able to fix anything presented to him. He enjoyed camping with his family at Prince Gallitzin State Park, and various beaches. He lived for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and enjoyed bumming around with the family. He will be truly missed by all those who knew and loved him.
John is survived by his sons, Johnny Walter and his wife, Kristen of Paw Paw, West Virginia, M. Todd Walter and his wife, Bonnie of Bellefonte; four grandchildren, Kyle Walter, Cody “Coyote” Walter, Dylan Walter, Sy “Sy Bones” Walter; two great-grandchildren, Iris and James; and great-grandpups, Mia, Freya, and Fina; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was the last of his generation. John is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Gloria, and two brothers, Robert and David Walter.
A Celebration of Life honoring John will be held at a later date.
