He was born November 30, 1933, the son of Ai F. and Ethel (Clinger) Welker.
Mr. Welker had been employed by the Pennsylvania Electric Company, retiring from the Shawville Power Plant.
He was Protestant by Faith.
Mr. Welker was a United States Navy Veteran having served during the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam Era.
He was a member of the Fleet Reserve Association, the DuBois American Legion Post No. 17, the VFW, Mosquito Creek Sportsman’s Club and National Rifle Association.
James is survived by his two children; Karen R. Lowe and Larry A. Welker both of Woodland, six grandchildren; Amity J. Welker, Tamara L. LoPresti, James D. Baron, Christopher L. Welker, Joseph R. Welker and Michael T. Welker, ten great grandchildren, a daughter-in-law, Barbara Welker and numerous nieces and nephews.
His wife, Vera L. (Kline) Welker whom he married February 25, 1954 passed away Sunday, January 9, 2022. He was the last member of his generation having been preceded in death by his parents, a son, Terry L. Welker, an infant brother, Robert, and infant sister, Nancy J., three sisters; Barbara Welker, Julia Read and Rosemary Donner, four brothers; Frederick R., Walter L., Donald M. and Ronald Welker and a son-in-law, Robert Lowe.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, January 12, 2022 at the Bennett and Houser Funeral Home Inc. of Clearfield with Rev. John F. White officiating. Military Honors will be accorded at the funeral home by the Clearfield Honor Guard. Interment will be in Shiloh Cemetery.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Wednesday from 11:00 AM until the hour of services.
