Mr. Miller was born on August 25, 1932 at Aurora, IL, the son of Harold and Mary Jane (Rogers) Miller.
After graduating from Batavia High School he served as flight instructor for the U.S. Navy. After discharge he attended Valparaiso University and graduated with a degree in accounting.
He retired from North American Refractories Co., Curwensville, PA. Prior employment was with Sherwin-Williams Co., in Cleveland, OH. He held an accountant position at both companies.
Mr. Miller achieved the rank of Eagle Scout on February 8, 1950 and was still involved in scouting as Unit Commissioner for the Grampian Boy Scout Troop.
He was a member of the St. John Lutheran Church, Clearfield where he was Sunday School Teacher for the adult class. He previously had served as president of the Church Council and also served on other church committees as needed.
Preceded in death by his parents, Mr. Miller is survived by his wife, Linda L. (Addleman) Miller whom he wed March 31, 1984.
Also surviving are two sons; Donald L. Miller and his wife Rhonda of Black Lick, OH and Robert Miller of Bedford, OH, a stepson, Brian Gayan, three grandchildren; Olivia Miller, Aaron and Tyler Gayan, three brothers; Richard Miller and his wife Carol, Gerald Miller and his wife Karen of Batavia, IL, and James Miller and his wife Janie of St. Charles, IL, three nieces and seven nephews
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at the St. John Lutheran Church of Clearfield with Rev. Robert Way officiating. Private interment will be in Friends Cemetery, Grampian. Military Honors will be accorded at the church by the Clearfield American Legion Post #6 Honor Guard.
Friends will be received at the Bennett and Houser Funeral Home, Inc., of Clearfield on Tuesday, April 17, 2012 from 2-4 and 7-9 P.M. and at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 A.M. until the hour of services.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the St. John Lutheran Church, P.O. Box 1454, and 217 E. Pine St., Clearfield, PA 16830.
