Born on February 21, 1938 in Clearfield, he was the son of Charles G. and Elizabeth P. (Patterson) Ammerman. On January 17, 1974 he wed the former Joy Miklos in Cumberland, MD; she survives at home.
Charles was a graduate of Clearfield Area High School – Vocation Carpentry. He was employed by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation as a Materials Manager and retired after 38 years of service.
He was a founding member of the Glen Richey Fire Department and a life-time member. He was also a member of the Curwensville Masonic Lodge 480. Charles enjoyed gardening, carpentry, hunting, fly fishing and ocean fishing, tying flies, loading shells, books, and enjoyed his collection of trains.
In addition to his wife, Joy he is survived by their four children: Charles T. Ammerman, Shelley M. Ammerman, Karen B. Libby, Shannon L. Ammerman; eight grandchildren, Kathleen, Emily, Jennifer, Jacquelyn, Amy Melissa Ammerman, Megan and Tyler Libby, and Mercedes Edgreen.
Charles is also survived by one brother, Thomas J. (Bessie) Ammerman, and nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Bennett & Houser Funeral Home, Inc., 312 E. Locust St., Clearfield, PA 16830 on Thursday, November 3, 2022 from 10-11 AM. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 11 AM with Pastor Mary Jo Bruinooge officiating. Interment will follow in the Thompson Cemetery, Glen Richey, PA.
