Born June 6, 1929 in Clearfield, the son of Charles and Alma (Ogden) Schnars.
Mr. Schnars had driven truck for Seasonall from 1960 to 1967 and was a mechanic for Clearfield Truck Rentals from 1967 until his retirement in 1991.
Blaine was a United States Army Veteran having served during the Korean Conflict. He enlisted in 1946 and served as MP, Brooklyn, NY, surplused in 1948. He re-enlisted in 1950 serving in the 7th Infantry Division and fought in the Battle of Pork Chop Hill. He again re-enlisted in 1954 to 1958 serving in the 4th Armor Group where he trained as a fixed wing and rotor airplane mechanic at Stuttgart Army Airfield, Echterdingen, Germany. Mr. Schnars earned the Korean Defense Service Metal, Service Metal of Korea, Army Commendation Metal and Combat Infantry Badge.
He was a member of the West Side United Methodist Church of Clearfield.
Mr. Schnars enjoyed hunting, camping and gardening.
Blaine is survived by his daughter, Robin Sassic and her husband Stanley of Florida, three grandchildren; Alisa Sassic, Angela Sassic and Dustin Sassic (Carrie), four great grandchildren; Courtney Keating (Kevin), Briella, Alivianna and Andrew Sassic, three great-great grandchildren; Nolan, Everly and Elora Keating, two brothers; Charles Schnars of Seattle, WA and Donald Schnars (Diane) of Clearfield and a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Cora M. (Swales) Schnars who passed away April 18, 2019, a son, Brad Lee Schnars, a sister, Betty Williams and a brother, David Schnars.
Honoring Mr. Schnars wishes there will be no public visitation or services. Interment will be in Historic Crown Crest Cemetery. Military Honors will be accorded at the cemetery by the Clearfield Honor Guard.
