Beverly A. Owens

Born April 25, 1929 in Clearfield, the daughter of Lloyd S. and Corrine (Roth) Owens.

She was a graduate of Clearfield High School, Class of 1947 as Valedictorian and furthered her education at the Indiana University of Pennsylvania, graduating in 1951 with a B.S. in Music Education. Following her education she did post graduate work at Penn State, University of Denver in Colorado and University of Vermont.

Ms. Owens taught in the Clearfield Area Schools as an Elementary Music Supervisor and then went on to be the full Music Supervisor of the whole district. She retired in 1984 after 37 years of service.

In the 1950’s and early 1960’s Beverly played the Marimba in the Three Notes, a musical trio that played dinner music at the Dimeling Hotel for the Sunday night candlelight dinners plus many banquets in the area.

She was a member of the West Side United Methodist Church of Clearfield, participating in the West Side Choir for over 50 years, then became piano accompanist for the choir. In 2008 she was named Church Woman of the Year and was a former member of the Administrative Board.

Ms. Owens was a member of the PA Music Educators Association, National Conference of Music Educators, Kappa Delta Pi Honorary Society in Education, Pennsylvania Association of School Retirees, Daughters of the American Revolution, Daughters of the American Colonists, American Legion Auxiliary, NON-Club and served on the board of the former Community Concert Association for over 50 years. She was also a founder and member of the Clearfield County Historical Society.

Beverly loved to travel through the United States and foreign lands to see various cultures. She visited 46 countries including all of Europe, Scandinavia, Russia, China, Australia, New Zealand, Egypt and the Holy Land.

She was preceded in death by her parents and beloved friend, Willard F. Dominick.

Funeral Services will be held at the West Side United Methodist Church on Wednesday, April 9, 2025 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Steve Cowfer and Pastor Paul Bowers co-officiating. Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Curwensville.

Friends will be received at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 AM until the hour of services.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the Clearfield County SPCA, 275 21st Street, Clearfield, PA 16830, Clearfield County Historical Society, 104 E. Pine Street, Clearfield, PA 16830 or a charity of the donor’s choice.
