Theresa Mae McConnell, 71, of Clayton passed away Tuesday March 22, 2022 at Wake Medical Center. A native of Florida, she was the daughter of the late Rosemary Strickland McConnell. Theresa worked for Food Lion and Lowes Foods Grocery Stores in the Deli Department. Along with her mother Theresa was preceded in death by a brother, William T. McConnell.
At the time of her death, Theresa was survived by her son Michael Dempsey and wife Jennifer; daughter Candace Brookreson; and granddaughter McKenzie Dempsey.
Candace Dawn Dempsey Brookreson, 51, passed away on May 21, 2022 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was the daughter of Michael James Dempsey, Sr. and the late Theresa Mae McConnell. In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her husband, Michael Brookreson, in August of 2001.
She was employed as a Court Reporter for the North Carolina State Highway Patrol. In addition to her father, she is survived by her brother, Michael James Dempsey, Jr. and wife Jennifer; niece McKenzie Dempsey; and two step daughters are Blaire Brookreson and Jade Brookreson.
A memorial gathering to celebrate the lives of Theresa and Candace will be held 10:30 am, Thursday, May 26, 2022 in the chapel McLaurin Funeral Home in Clayton, North Carolina.
