Susan Price, 65, a cherished wife, mother, and grandmother, was called home to Heaven on Sunday, August 25, 2024. Born on November 6, 1958, in Newport News, Virginia, Susan was the daughter of Gil “Arch” and Maureen Archambault. Her mother was British and her father French Canadian. Susan’s father and stepmother reside in Milford, New Hampshire. Susan spent most of her life in England until she met her husband, Larry, in 1975 while he was in the USAF. They married on February 10, 1979. Susan left England to start a new journey in the USA, leaving behind sisters, nieces, nephews, an uncle, an aunt, and cousins. Together with Larry, a retired military service member, Susan raised four wonderful children: sons Chad, Jonathan, Adam, and their beautiful daughter Jessica. Susan's love for the Lord had a profound impact on her family as she taught them about God, attended church, participated in Bible study, and prayed with them.
After a 24-year military career and living in various places, the family settled in Clayton in 2001 and made it their home. Susan was an intelligent and kind-hearted woman. She excelled in her rigorous LPN program in 1981 but had to pause her dream due to complications with the birth of Jessica. Her focus shifted to being a dedicated mother. Later, Susan pursued her passion for helping others. She earned an Associate's Degree in Paralegal Studies from the University of Maryland, graduating with a 4.0 GPA and earning a spot on the Dean’s List and Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society, all while raising four children.
Her experience with a special needs daughter ignited her passion for supporting individuals with special needs. Susan took immense pride in her work with Easter Seals of North Carolina, where she helped establish the First and Families in Johnston County (FIFJC) Project. From 2001 to 2006, Susan dedicated herself to making this project a success, and it continues to benefit countless families in Johnston County.
Susan also served on the Clayton Board of Parks and Recreation, advocating for the inclusion of the disabled in decision-making processes.
Susan is now at peace, singing, dancing, and rejoicing with Jessica and our awesome God. I can only imagine the joy she felt upon meeting the Lord and being reunited with Jessica. She often spoke of that day, and it arrived sooner than we anticipated. Although our hearts are heavy, knowing her salvation brings us strength and comfort.
Susan is survived by her husband Larry Price of Clayton; sons Chad Price and grandson Noah of Apex; Jonathan Price and his wife Kelly, with granddaughters Josie and Kylie of Boynton Beach, Florida; and Adam Price and his wife Amanda, with granddaughters Charlotte and Piper of Clayton. She is also survived by her father Gil Archambault and stepmother Linda of Milford, New Hampshire.
In England, Susan is survived by her sister Debra Roberts and niece Leigh, nephew Justin, sister Amy and her husband Guy Belsom, nephews John Arbon, Steven Arbon, and niece Julie, as well as her uncle Charlie and Aunt Joyce Lacey, and cousins Johnny, Steven, Martin, and Dennis and his wife Gill.
Susan also had dear friends and family in Huntington, WV, including her sisters-in-law Nancy Peters and Nancy Price, and brothers-in-law Roger Price and Rudy Peters Jr. “Butch” and family in Knoxville, Tennessee. Step-daughter Leslie Price of Ona, WV and step-grand children Hannah and William. Close friends Nick and Susan Zynko and family of Palm Bay, Florida, and Betty and Amber Duncan of Arizona also mourn her loss.
Larry and his sons extend their heartfelt thanks for the many acts of kindness, thoughts, and prayers during this difficult time. Special thanks go to the SECU Hospice House in Smithfield for their exceptional care. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hospice House.
