CLAYTON – Stacy Earl Morgan, age 86, passed away Wednesday, August 11, 2021 at SECU Hospice House in Smithfield, North Carolina.
A private graveside service will be held at the family’s request.
He was born May 12, 1935 in Johnston County to the late Eugene Earl Morgan and the late Lee Ila Register Morgan. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son Gary Keith Morgan and sisters Kathy Morgan Pilkington and Jo Ann Morgan Daughtry.
Mr. Morgan was a Veteran of the United States Army, member of the American Legion Post 71 and member of 40/8 Voiture 1517. The family moved to Clayton in 1966, when he became Chief of Police for the Town of Clayton. He was a former Clayton Town Councilman and former member of the Clayton Civitan. He owned and operated Morgan’s Custom Cabinets with Stan for 30 years. Stacy enjoyed spending time with his family, boating, and fishing with the family at Cape Lookout. He was an avid gardener and enjoyed working with his hands.
He is survived by his children: Donna Morgan (Randy Ethridge), Stan Morgan (Sherry Chappell Morgan), and Andy Morgan (Jayne Vernon Morgan); grandchildren: Stuart Morgan, Stephen Morgan, Tyler Arnold, Austin Arnold, Morgan Arnold, Auburn Morgan, Will Morgan, Lauryn Morgan, and Cameron Morgan; great grandchildren: Delaney Morgan, Spencer Morgan, Delia Morgan, Lacey Arnold, Billie Anne Arnold, and Harper Arnold; brothers and sisters: Leroy Morgan, Bobby Morgan, Charles Morgan, and Linda Morgan Matthews. Stacy is also survived by his previous wives: Ann Blackmon Cayton (mother of Gary, Donna, and Stan) and Sheron Keiser Morgan (mother of Andy).
