Walt Johnstone, 77 of Clayton, NC died Friday, March 20, 2020, at home on Hospice, of heart failure.
Born June 29, 1942, in Kewanee, IL to Spencer and Lillie (Hotz), Johnstone, he married Christine Haugen September 25, 1961 in Benton Harbor, MI.
He was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in 1965 and was a member of the East Clayton Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Christine H. Johnstone; one sister, Sandee (Richard) Halberg of Princeton, IL six children, Rebecca (Rick) Clary of Newport News, VA, Pamela (Chad) Priesman of FL, Jennifer of TX, James (Candy) of Polo, IL, David (Peggy) of Rochester, MN and Christy (Michael) Potter of Clayton; eleven grand-children and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother-in-law, Richard Halberg of Princeton, IL.
Memorial Service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 3,2020 at McLaurin Funeral Home, with Elder Tim Marsh officiating. Service will be streamed through the Facebook page of McLaurin at Pinecrest Memorial Park. Memorials may be directed to the charity of the donor’s choice.
