Shirley Ann Coats

A celebration of life will be held at 2:00pm on Sunday, February 4th at the MacLaurin Funeral Home in Clayton, NC. Reverend Robert Coats will be officiating. Shirley loved bright colors. In her honor, please feel free to wear something colorful.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home immediately following the service.

Shirley was born in Sampson County, NC to the late Erastus & Eva Warren Pope. She attended the Women’s College of the University of North Carolina and worked at the Office of Personnel Management in Washington D.C for over 30 years. Shirley taught dance in her younger years and maintained a lifelong love of dancing. She enjoyed travel, Britt’s donuts, and spending time with her sister Janice.

Shirley is survived by her son Michael Coats of Atlanta GA, and sister, Janice Blalock. She was predeceased by her husband, Bryan Coats and siblings, Donald Pope, Robert Pope, Harold Pope and Charlie Pope.
