Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, September 23, 2023 in the chapel of McLaurin Funeral Home with Pastor Mitch Lockamy officiating. Burial will follow at Shiloh Baptist Church Cemetery in Garner, North Carolina.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM at the funeral home, prior to the service.
Sharon was born on May 2, 1939 in Tuscola County, MI to the late Cecil U. Brown and Mary Burt Brown. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Ruth Jean Quinn, Mary Kay McDonald, Ken Brown, and Elaine Bell, along with many of their spouses.
Sharon enjoyed her careers, both as a Christian missionary to Central and South America and as a registered nurse. She had a heart for spreading the Good News of the Gospel and leading and teaching the grace and knowledge of Christ. Sharon also enjoyed spending time with her family - especially her grandkids, reading, gardening, handcrafts, sewing and knitting, playing games and puzzles, painting, and letter writing. She was a talented musician, playing multiple instruments. The piano was her favorite. After retirement, Sharon enjoyed serving in the choir with Shiloh Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband of 63 years James Stewart Evans; children, Brenda Mautz, and spouse, James, of Erwin, NC, and Brian Evans, and spouse, Kristen, of Clayton, NC; grandchildren, Michael Kintner, Scott Kintner, Angel Evans, and Abigail Evans; and a great-grandchild, Elias Evans; along with many nieces, nephews, and close friends.
