Robert “Bob” Peter Pizzo passed away on May 26, 2023 at Transitions LifeCare in Raleigh, North Carolina. His resided in Clayton, NC and is survived by his wife of 56 years, Judith A. Pizzo, daughter Kristine Holton, son-in-law Easton Rice, and granddaughter Leah Holton.
Bob was born on October 29, 1944 in Summerville, Massachusetts. He attended Bellport High School and after graduation began working for Grumman Aerospace where he retired after 30 years of dedicated service. He had only one sabbatical from his profession when he voluntarily entered the United States military as a proud Marine. He was honorably discharged from the Marine Corp after serving in Cuba at the Bay of Pigs.
Bob was most proud of serving his community and country as a volunteer fireman with the Haggerman Fire Department where he served for 54 years. Some of his fondest memories were with those proud firefighters, such as Tommy Brienza, in Bellport, Long Island.
After retiring from Grumman Aerospace, he moved with his wife to North Carolina to be closer to his daughter whom he loved with all his heart. He later would regale anyone who would listen about his most cherished accomplishment of becoming a grandfather. Despite all of his accomplishments and service to his community and country, he was most proud of his family. It was always evident that he was a proud and loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. While Bob did not want to die, he was at peace and was looking forward to seeing his best friend and father-in-law, August “Augie” Waldron, so he could tell him all the stories of his loving family.
Rest in peace Bob Pizzo, a true American Hero.
