A celebration of life ceremony will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 17, 2019 at McLaurin Funeral Home.
Rick was born in NYC, New York to Emanuel and Elizabeth Leavitt on February 13, 1947. He graduated from Nova University in FL with a BS in Business Administration and majored in sales and marketing. He worked in Senior Management for AT&T and IBM for many years. He was a veteran and served in the US Air Force. Rick was involved in the Raleigh HOG group for many years. He was most recently a member of the Enforcers Motorcycle Club, an LEO, from October 2009 until his death. He served as Road Captain of his chapter for 8 years.
Rick is preceded in death by his parents, Emanuel and Elizabeth Leavitt.
Rick is survived by Grace Via, his significant other; his beloved dog, Auggie; his children, Brandon, Reed, and Connor Leavitt; and their mother, Judith Millsaps; daughter, Elizabeth Smith and granddaughter, Jessica; extended family, Mark and Lori Gittens and their children; longtime friend, Sharon Durick; long time next door neighbors/good friends, Dave and Paula Pynaker; his EFFE family; and
coworkers/friends from Rex Wellness Center.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society-Prostate Cancer.
The family and extended family of Rick Leavitt wishes to extend our sincere thanks to his oncologist, Dr. William Berry and his staff; his ophthalmologist Dr. Robert Stone and his staff; his palliative care team; the staff at Transitions LifeCare Hospice Home; and the Pharmacy staff at Walmart for all of your care, love, and concern, and all of the countless hours that everyone spent taking care of Rick through the years of his illness. All of you are amazing!
