Nellie Baker Alford

Funeral service will be held 2:30 PM Friday, June 2, 2023 at Bethesda Baptist Church, of which she was a member, with Pastor Dr. Will King officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 1:30 PM until 2:30 PM Friday, June 2, 2023 at the church, prior to the service.

Mrs. Alford was born August 11, 1925 in Johnston County to the late Jasper Young Baker, Sr. and the late Lela Bessie Lee Baker. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband James Rupert Alford; sister, Lela Virginia Williams; brothers, Thel Robinson Baker, William Marsh Baker and Jasper Young Baker Jr.

She enjoyed her family and friends more than anything, along with the Game Show Network and UNO.

She is survived by her children, Linda Roddenberry and husband Bob, Danny Alford and friend Sherry Coats, Ronald Alford and wife Diane, Diane Montague and husband Randy, Deb Sharp, Kim Lee and husband Joey; grandchildren, Michelle Abernathy, Ashley Woodruff, Hannah and Tyler Adamson, Joey and Heather Lee, Kellie and Steve Dodds, Brad Alford, Brent and Laken Alford, Bryan Alford, Al Hester, Tracy and Jeff Ashworth, Jeremy Hester, Amy Allen, Nathan Shaw; great grandchildren, Ashlyn Lee, Erica (Grant) and Riley Abernathy, Kristin and Austin Dodds, Henry and Elle “Loleepop” Adamson, Harper Woodruff-Reymond, Kendall and Stephen Allen; brother, Edward Lanier Baker; sister, Dorothy Lee Baker Davis, and many precious nieces and nephews.
